For the coming issue of Plunge, I would love some meta about Kate Kane, Batwoman (1k-1.5k words). Payment will be $15 + an electronic copy of Elegy(via Comixology), the first Batwoman collection (or another title if you already own this one).
If you’re interested, email me at email@example.com. Please give me your:
- Reason for interest
- A writing sample
- And, if you already know, your idea for the meta
If you know someone who might be interested, please boost the signal.
Note: Plunge accepts nonfiction, book reviews, meta, personal essays, memoirs, and etc.
A poem has been submitted for issue 2!!
This is just a reminder that Plunge is currently accepting submissions of genre short stories, poems, and nonfiction related to queer women and the theme “Chase(d).” The chase can be metaphorical or literal. Broad interpretations of the theme are highly encouraged.
If you enjoyed “Bridging the Divide” by Dominica Malcolm, she has a new short story featuring the mermaid Prudence called “Siren”, which is being published in “Fae Fatales: A Fantasy Noir Anthology” by Solarwyrm Press. This story is set in a later time period, in 1946, and is told from the point of view of a Hawaiian man. You can find out more about the book, which is currently taking pre-orders, on Indiegogo: http://igg.me/at/fantasynoir/x/968017
If you’ve published in Plunge and have a project you’d like to share or have your work available elsewhere, send me a write-up for me to share.
I received an email not long ago letting me know that the first submission for issue 2 has arrived. I am greatly looking forward to reading it and receiving more.
Given the great number of people who visited the site on the Ides, I just wanted to review the publishing schedule here for year one and after.
In year one, we are only publishing twice (Feb and Aug). This is my learning year and I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to make and correct mistakes (for example, I know now that I should have released the theme for the August issue back in January).
Starting in year two, we are moving to a quarterly schedule (Feb, May, Aug, Nov). The quarterly schedule will be sustained through at least year five at which point it will be re-evaluated.
Please remember that submissions are currently be accepted for issue two. Currently none have been submitted.
The theme for issue two is “Chase(d).” As per last time, interpret this as broadly as you like. Also, that which is chased or chasing may be a person, a date, an idea, a memory, a monster, or anything else you can devise. All genres (fantasy, scifi, mystery, horror, westerns, *punk, fairy tale, etc) are accepted.
If you’re not a writer yourself, please pass this info along to friends who are.
The second issue of Plunge will go live in August 2013. Submissions are open now through June 10th.
The theme for the second issue is Chase(d). Throughout our lives, we chase after and are chased by a myriad of people and things. We run from our pasts and sprint toward our dreams. We may be evading a person or trying to find someone. The chase between people, memories, ambitions, and ourselves. Interpret the theme as broadly as you like.
Plunge Magazine accepts short stories (1k~5k), poetry (3~50 lines), and nonfiction (500~5k). We pay $15 for short stories and non-fiction and $5 for poetry. Anyone, no matter their place within the full spectra of sexuality, gender, experience, etc, may submit. All submissions are read anonymously.
Questions may be submitted via the ask box here, the contact form on the website, or as a query letter via Submittable.
The submissions window for issue 2 of Plunge will run from March 1st through June 10th. The theme for this issue is Chase(d).
Submissions information is on the website.
We accept short stories, poetry, and non-fiction in all genres, so long as the work relates to the theme and, even more importantly, features queer women.
Hello, I am very happy to announce that the first issue of Plunge Magazine is available online.
Please go, read, and enjoy!
